What to add?

Hello everybody!

I'm not an expert on amps so I'll ask you for help.

I have a GP7SM Trace Elliot (http://images3.hiboox.com/images/510...805a130176.jpg) and I want to buy Gaellien Krueger 210RBX. (http://www.amazon.com/Gallien-Kruege.../dp/B00154M864)

I want to add another 1x15' box in due time. Is this possible, and what should the specifications of the box be? (I reckon a 150-200w 1x15' @ 8ohm?)

Please help! I don't want to burn or damage anything!

Thank you

Most Trace amps have a 4Ω minimum so your 15 will have to be 8Ω and nothing lower. Before you settle on the 15 try another identical 2x10. You might like that even better.

Yeah, you can add exactly ONE 8 ohm cab to your combo amp, and no more. Depending on what size spkr is in the combo, I'd suggest getting another of the same, ie: if it's a 1x15 combo, add another 15, if it's a 210 combo, add another 210. But no, you cannot add both a 210 AND a 1x15 to the combo amp, or you will kill the amp.

it's not a combo amp, it's an amp head and i'm merely building my setup. That's why I want 1x15 and 2x10. I understand that I need to add one 8 ohm cab, but what power should it have if the Gaelien krueger is 400w/8ohm?

At least the same handling. If you are expecting the 15 to go lower than the 2x10 it may well not be the case.

Ahh, I see. +1 to Bassman Paul's last response. 210's and a 15 are a good match, but you won't necessarily get more bottom from the 15, in fact, a matched pair of 210's would most likely give you more.

agree with Bassman.

I use to own a Ashdown MAG2x10 and MAG1x15. First i thought the 1x15 at the bottom will give me all the low end i wanted then i realise it is not happening ....... Now i sold both cab and start again. Only play a Markbass 2x10 at the moment and the low end i getting is better than my old ashdown rig. If i would add another cab i will go for another 2x10.

So like everything said, you should try another 2x10 before you make a final choice.
