Here is a live YT vid of Crosby Stills & Nash playing Southern Cross. Please listen to the bass tone. What rig do you think the bassist is using? It sounds very warm. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kopNfhvCkHU

The amp onstage could also be combined with a mic. Most bass amps do have their own D.I. output and this send is usually switchable between pre or post EQ which affects the sound enormously. Nowadays I don't see bassist's using amps as much onstage anymore, they have the bass in their monitors.
Given that I would say it's not likely to recognize the bassist's amp in question by hearing a live recording.

| | | | Sounds like a nice P Bass to me ( or j with flats possibly). Per the above, amp is probably not that important in a venue this size... possibly a mic on an SVT that is running relatively low volume and clean.
To the OP, the 15/6 you are getting does that vibe very nicely... fat, deep, but still articulate without boom nor sizzle. A nice warm amp head like a Markbass LMII and that cab, with the right bass would get you there completely with backline.... clean, but warm, fat, articulate, organic. Nice!

(and thanks to all other responders as well).
Yeah Ken, I'm really looking forward to receiving my pair of LDS fEarful-type 15/6's. I plan to drive them with my Kern tube preamp and QSC PLX3602 2-channel power amp which will provide each 8-ohm cab with around 750 watts. Funny you should mention the LMII head. I was at GC the other day (yeah, I know, but I was bored), and I plugged into a Markbass Jeff Berlin combo amp that has the LMII built in. What a nice warm tone!

| | | | I can tell you for a fact that's a P-bass. At the end of the video you get a good picture of it. Also looked like the bass cabs were in front of the drummer, which were either 2x15's or 2x12's. I could be wrong they could of been guitar cabs. |

That is some beautiful tone in that clip, really something, also makes me think P, flats and tubes instantly. |
