First off, I'm not bashing the 751. I have one and LOVE it. If I had to describe the tone in few works, I'd say it's warm, smooth, wooly and mellow, and each note has the heft of a mack truck!
I'm looking at getting another head and I want a Yin to the 751's Yang.
Something clean, bright and punchy. A bit more in your face and aggressive. I'm thinking going with something solid state, but I'd imagine there's probably a hybrid or even an all tube amp that could possibly fit the bill.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance! |

ps. when you say different to the 751 are you looking for more Hi-Fi or more growly? |

Primarily looking for something well suited for rock, so growly would be more useful than hifi IMO. |

If OP wants growl, then may be the GK 1001 instead of the 2001. Quote:

What is your budget?
The first thing that comes to mind is a GK 800RB as has already been mentioned. Something bright, tight down low and fairly grindy/aggressive in the upper mids.

Pretty much the opposite there. Some people are giving those things away. They're super loud, bright and ridiculously punchy. |
