Exclamation What Bass Amp Shall I get?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys,
I'm looking to up my amp into the next stage or so.
I currently have an Ashdown Electric Blue:

I play grunge, rock, heavy rock and blues.
I have a 2010 Rickenbacker 4003
I play small/medium sized gigs where my current amp doesnt cut it.
What amps would you recornmend?
I have a budget of around 600 or so pounds...
It would be quite nice to have a really powerful amp so its really loud at low levels if you get my drift.
I have tried a few ampegs and am not impressed and fancy sticking with Ashdown because I really like their build etc.

I have been considering these:

What do you guys think? What do you suggest?

I am very keen on the Ashdown touring 550 so any information or reviews would be great

Thankksss

Standard answer- find a used bass amp @ 300-500 watts, pair it with at least a good 4x10- spend more on the speakers than the amp.

Yep. 4x10, or 1x12 + 2x10 and various combinations. The more cones move, the more air moves, the louder it gets.

Spend more on the cabs - bad sounding cabs will make the best amp sound bad.

Since you like Ashdown, try a MiBass 220. Or the bigger Spyder 330.

Might even consider a used ABM 300 if you can find one local. Any of these should be fine.

As for cabs, a single 410 cab is usually cheaper than buying any combination of separate, smaller cabs.
