What Bass Cab

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi I am using an Ashdown ABM Evo II 500, currently with Ashdown mini speakers 4x8 & 1x15.

Not happy with the speakers so now want to change.

I am looking at Eden NSP 4x10E or Fender Rumble 4x10, both are 500watt 4ohm cabs.
Which one? or is there a better alternative not to expensive though.

Cheers
John

Why do you need to change? Lack of volume? Or need another tone?

What kind of tone do you need? Weight concerns? Budget? Etc

If you like the tone but need volume, buy another identical 115 cab (or 4x8 cab, depends on taste)

Personally, I'd stick it with an SVT-410HE or ABM-410 cab(s). I like solid and warm bottom lows with just enough punch in the mids.

Speakers just don't cut it difficult to get a good sound at low volume..only last night had input set at ten past & output the same..should not need to have these settings in a small pub!!

Then definitely get bigger cabs. You're in the UK right? Have a look at Barefaced cabs:

Barefaced Bass - Compact

They have a GBP100 discount til Dec 23. It's *the* cab I'd want to buy if it were available where I live (importing cabs is a pain). Light and loud.

If you got any questions, contact alexclaber of Barefaced here on TB. Good luck

Your current cabs probably just don't play well together, it happens when you mix speakers. Try it through one or the other by themselves. If you like the sound of one of them but it's just not loud enough, get another of the same cab. If neither do it for you, sell them both, take your bass and your amp with you and play through as many different cabs as you can find. Ignore cone size and all that and just find something you like the sound of. If it sounds good but just isn't loud enough, get two of them.

In the UK, yes, Barefaced is about the best there is. If you just can't swing the price, look around the used market for something you like.
