FWIW, my first choice from that list would be the Ashdown, and second would be the TC Electronics. but i'm all for the warm, kinda dirty rock tone, and those amps do it well.

I like Ampeg for the sound and the reliability and have 4 of them in heads and combos, but I also have a Hartke 3500 Head, a 1965 Fender Bassman head and an SWT Workingman 2004 Head. I have also owned a Carvin head and have used many other brands including GK, Peavey, Hiwatt and Berhinger.
I recommend doing 2 things: - Read reviews on as many amps as possible
- Try out the ones you think may work for you
Remember, the amp is only part of the equation. Your bass, your playing style, your speaker cabs and your pedals (if any) will impact the sound.

I have the bass at 2 volume most the time and its louder than anything else, its great even with the -14 db engaged my stingray i play at 1.5-2 volume and its still loud as to boot. Id recommend trying one out. i could easily play outdoor gigs to stadiums with this thing. it kicks really.

GK1001rb II been using gk heads for the past 12 or so years and the 1001 rb II is a Killer!!! Clean Loud and very punchy!! will cut through anything..and is a very powerful 700 watt head. I run mine through an SWR megoliath 810 cab..and i can tell you i would blow that cab all to pieces before i would ever run out of head room with that head!! I can say enough good thing s about that head. They are built to last and have never ever had any troubles with any of the GK heads i have owned!!...to me you can not beat them for their price!!!

| | | | You might save a little dough and prefer the GK 700 RBII over the 1001 RBII. It's "only" 480 watts @ 4Ω, but's it's a loud, soulful 480 watts, at least to me. I like the older Genz Benz GBE 600 for similar reasons, they don't make them anymore, but they have a certain grindy thing going on with the tube and the fet pre mixed together.

| | | I use an 1001RB-II.
I've only used mine at home, since it's still new.. and any volume over a quater...
The house really starts to rumble, haha.
I would definitely check up on reviews though, because at the end of the day it's your taste in tone.
I would really only consider looking into Markbass and Ampeg other than GK.
Check out some recordings on the net, see what is your cup of tea

Keeps up with the gallien krueger in terms of power, and the tone shaping and tube/solid state channels are killer. It can do the gk sound, and when using the tube it can do a nice warm tone perfect for most situations. Blend both channels and it kills the gk. I suggest trying a Genz benz 750 or if the weight is an issue try one of the shuttle 6.0 or 9.0 for more headroom.
