.... to go with my old GK1001RB/210 combo? (Not a 1001 RBII)
deciding between the NEO 410 or the 410 RBH.
Anything to say about the Ultralight NEO 410MBE?
any other brand name 410 cabs one would think was better suited for this particular combo?

The Neo 410 is 70 lbs (still not light) and $600.
Is the RBH worth the extra $300? Especially considering rigs are basically stage monitors anymore.
The Neo 410MBE Ultralight is $450 and weighs in at 46 lbs.
Opinions? Comments?

I have some clips and an account of how I modified mine here: GK 410MBE Mods |

One question I have about the MBE vs Neo is the Paragon speaks.
How did not having these play into your decision to go for the Ultralight?
I read somewhere in these forums if one is going to skimp on something in a cab, DON'T skimp on the speakers. Which of course makes sense!
Nice to know the cab doesn't need further bracing. The downfall of a lot of cab designs.

I found that the weight was a HUGE difference. |

The speakers in the cab pictured in that thread are NEOs. MBE has a piezoelectric horn and no G-K Biamp input (or crossover), the NEO series has a dynamic horn, crossover (for full range input) and G-K Biamp input.

I'm kind of a speaker geek so I bought the 410 MBE because is is a sealed cabinet and I wanted to try stuffing it to tailor the sound. It worked out well. This is a great cab, but I play a Pbass with flats so I don't even use the tweeter. If you like a lot of tweeter in your sound maybe the NEO cab is better but it weighs more. I can one hand this cab for short distances.
Glad you enjoyed the thread. It was great the Bill chimed in. He really knows his speakers and cleared a lot of things up for me. |

As you can see I ditched the idea of the Neo212 after reading a lot of reviews saying not to mix speak sizes. I've used different size spreakers when truly bi-amping and really like the sound. But seeing as the 1001/210 combo is only bi-amped within itself, it doesn't matter so much.
I live too far out in the boonies to have experimenting really be feasible where I can try rigs and take 'em back to the store if unsatisfied. Just the hassle factor. I'm happy with the old GK combo and just want to beef it up a little bit.
gmarcus - thank you for all the time and advice. I'll probably go the MBE route and mod it as per your instructions. As far as the tweet I don't have a lot of use for a lot of high end, although I slap some. I figure the tweet in the combo will give all the high end I need. Also plan on using this cab with an old Sunn 200s and as the high end cab in bi-amp situations.
I have an old modded JPJ P bass with flats and an EBMM Sterling maple board for slappy fun.
Thanks for your help and knowledge, guys!

Becaus I thought about getting to 8ohm 410rbh to my 1001rb-II head. |

Becaus I thought about getting to 8ohm 410rbh to my 1001rb-II head. | Both versions handle the same input wattage.

I will say that I am damn impressed by my Neo410, though. |
