To the OP: In my opinion (which is worth about what you're paying for it), a Sansamp BDDI or VT Bass pedal run into any good Class D power amp will replace your CL with VERY few people being able to tell the difference in tone. Especially in a live sound situation.

And a Bergantino NV610 will replace your Ampeg 810 pretty darn close. The Berg is smaller, lighter, and still has the tiltback'n'roll design.

Markbass. I personally would dump the fridge (8x10) and SVT unless you have roadies or are playing stadiums (in which case you should have roadies).

Sorry...don't agree with any of it. VT does sound good and I have one, but seriously now...

Svt7pro with a ampeg pn410.........sounds close with 15lb head and 60lbs cab w/wheels..........and you can add another pn410 and you will be even closer.
note: on the down side, the pn series are VERY expensive.

I wasn't really directing that comment towards you, but more to the post above yours.

That said, I totally understand what you mean about dialing in a tone as close to your sound with the equipment available. But that said tone is still coming from your EQ, not your fingers.

Tech 21 has a rack mount VT bass now. With a nice power camp and a sealed 410 cab it should make a good SVT like rig at half the weight,

Another choice would be a Genz Benz Streamliner. With some tube rolling and some EQ adjustments it can get really close. JMHO.
What tubes would you put in the Streamliner to get close to the SVT tone?

OK maybe someone said this already, but I didn't read all the comments. Tone isn't in your fingers. It's in your ears! I know that no matter what gear I'm playing through I know what I like, and I inevitably wind up setting the amp/bass/tweeter control to sound how "I LIKE IT." I do the same thing with pedals, basses, amps, strings, cabs, etc... there is a sound that I like and I naturally gravitate to it whether I know I'm doing it or not. For me, "MY TONE" is in "MY EARS." No, not all amps, basses, strings, pedals, or fingers sound the same, but I'm always searching for "my tone" with whatever I have to work with, and I'd be willing to bet most of you on here would agree.

I don't have much Money, What is the most amazing Bass set up out there? Thanks!
Before you sell the Head...try a Traynor 8-10. Twice the cab the ampeg is. I 've tried one.
