What to buy? GK MB500 or MB Fusion (with tube preamp)?
Iīm really having hard time deciding which GK mini amp to buy next. I narrowed it down to 2 models: GK MB500 and MB Fusion (500).
Let me know from you experts the pros and cons of both amps. Some band members suggested me not to buy the Fusion with the tube pre-amp, they say itīs "tube-mojo-hype" and not worth the extra 200 Euro (= 265 U$).
I got a lot of dirt pedals (Catalinbread SFT, VT Bass, Voodoolab Sparkle Drive & more) which could simulate the tube preamp section if i would go with the MB500 ... does that make sense at all?
At the moment iīm tending towards the MB Fusion but i could be helpful to hear your input helping me decide. I have no opportunity to A/B both amps and i donīt want to order both amps and send 1 back later.

I would suggest going with the Fusion... You have more options with the Tube Preamp. I own both (500 & 800). My Fusion 500 is my "go-to". But if you already purchased the other non tube version, don't sweat it. It sounds good too. Just not as warm. Either way, Good Luck!

I'd say that you'll get a warmer tone from the VT bass pedal that you have than the tube preamp IME. You can also bypass the preamp and just go straight into the power section of the MB Fusion or MB500. You really can't make a "bad" decision, but I'd say save the extra dough and get the MB500.

i will order the new GK MB amp within 48 hours ... tendency: Fusion instead of MB500 ... still open for further opinions which could change my mind.

Well the full three tube pre in the Fusion is not just a pretend thing. It is a real full voltage, six section preamp. The choice of mid shift point is extremely handy for dialing in room acoustics. It is the preamp my Fusion 550 has, that is one versatile great sounding front end.
IME, they're very different sounds, and the Fusion is much closer to playing through a tube amp but with the GK quality still there, especially in the high-mids. I find the Fusion preamp to be a great addition to the basic 500 sound, at least for my taste. Channel switching is also very effective vs. the non-Fusion. Of course I don't rely on pedals for much other than switching, so that might be a factor. In any case, the MBF-500's about all I gig anymore.
