What cab should i get with SVT-3 pro (450 watt)?
hey, just wondering what sort of cab i should be getting, i was going to go for the SVT-7 pro but thats 1000 watts meaning i would have to get a even bigger amp witch would mean more money i guess? bigger head means bigger cab iv been told?
i'm looking for a nice deep warm tone that is also punchy, i play a 4 string ibanez sr700.
i think i'd like to keep with the ampeg cabs as most people seem to use them on stage? but any suggesting are welcome! |

I used my 3Pro with a variety of cabs, 1x15, 4x12, 1x12 and 2x12.
I sold it to my dad and he is using it with a 4x10 cab and loves it.
Oh, and none of the cabs were Ampeg, and it still worked great.

I never had any problem with the 8x10, but I think they were meant to be matched up with an svt4 or above ideally. |

| | | i was looking for a fairly loud amp for say medium venues, correct me if i'm wrong but doesn't the cab have to be bigger than head? another thing is, what sort of speaker size would give the deepest warmest tone?
i was looking at the PN 115HLF Ampeg: Pro Neo Series - PN-115HLF
what do you guys think of that, would that produce a warm deep tone? |

no idea about the pro neo series, though, sorry.

| | | | okay so i thinking of trying the:
Head: SVT-3 PRO
Cab: SVT410HLF
looks like thats what i'm looking for!
does anyone know why the svt3 (450w) is more expensive than the svt7 (1000w)? |

putting all that aside, though, while i used to own a 3 pro and liked it, i've never got along too well with solid state and hybrid designs until the micro amps started coming out. and while i haven't played every micro amp made (and yes, i'm considering the 7 pro micro even though it's a big micro), i think the 7 pro takes the micro format that i'm already a fan of and steps it up 4 or 5 big notches. so ymmv, but if it were me, i'd do the 7 pro. you can always turn it down if it threatens your cab.

I've played both side by side through an ampeg 810 and the 7 pro has a nicer sound imo. Plus the 7 pro is lighter more powerful and is easier to use. Go with the 7 pro if you can afford it

The amp is rated at 600 watts at 8 ohms, while the Pro Neos are rated between 550 and 850 watts at the same 8 ohms. I'm considering this exact combo...

SVT-3 PRO/410HLF would make for a great stack. They used to sell it as a package deal for a reason!

I've been playing this rig for 5+ years and love it! Lots of tone variations between the 410HLF's low end ooomph and the 3Pros versatile preamp capabilities. |
