Question What cabinet to use with 4ohm GK goldline?

Sign in to disble this ad
I purchased a GK goldline 500 watt 4 ohm amp. It has 2 speaker outs on the back. Can I use 2 Mbe 212 cabinets rated @ 4 ohms each, one plugged into each out in the back or should I use 2 GK Neo 8ohm cabinets plugged into each out in the back?
Thanks for the help

If you are going to use 2 cabs (of any make), then they have to be 8 ohms each

2 4ohm cabs = 2ohm = no good
2 8ohm cabs = 4ohm = good

I did, the manual gave no instructions accept that "a" 4 ohm cab or 8 ohm cab or 16 ohm cab could be used with this amp.

One 4-ohm cab, or two 8-ohm cabs.

I have a GK 4-ohm 212MBE, and it’s all the volume I could want on stage (with an MB500, also pushing 500 watts).

I have other 8-ohm 410 cabs to use instead of it, if I really want to push more air.

Fair enough. (And GOOD for you!) The manual assumes you know how to interpret that - which takes a bit of background.

That spec tells you that 4 ohms is the minimum. Two 8 ohm cabs connected to an amp yields 4 ohms resistance, so that's the most cabs you can connect. Two 4 ohm cabs would result in 2 ohms, which would probably damage the amp.
