What can I expect

Sign in to disble this ad
I've had this 1997 SVT4 Pro since new and just can't get a sound I like.So its been a backup for my GK800rb since then.I've had it on craigslist forever and no bites. So I found two Avatar 410 pre Neo 8ohm cabs on craigslist and he excepted a trade, I was going to buy Avatar cabs with the money anyways So Are the older cabs better or worse than the newer ones. The amps I will be running are My 800rb and my new toy Gk MB2-500

I think the older ones used delta10's which don't have that much excursion but with 8 of them you should be fine. Even with 4 for smaller gigs.

The newer neo's avatar's "extended xmax" design gives up a lot of upper mid response for a little more power handling in the lows, not a good tradeoff IMO. The older delta's wouldn't be your first choice as a bass speaker but with 8 of them to spread the power around, should be just fine. Good mid response, I use them in little 10+tweet vocal mons with good results. With max. 300-500 watts and a slight, if any low freq. boost going on at the amp, I wouldn't expect any problems. Just consider both 410's your gig rig, a single 410 for smaller stuff.
