What to do with a broken speaker?

So I have this broken speaker from an Aguilar db112. The cone is fine, I think it's either a cracked/broken magnet or voice coil problem. It was probably dropped during shipping. That's neither here nor there, because I have already gotten a replacement from Aguilar and installed it (sounds great so far.)
  • What can I do with the broken speaker?
  • Any cool project ideas?
  • Can I tear it apart and do something with the basket or cone?
  • Is it worth anything on the used market?
I feel kind of wasteful throwing it away.

If it's only a voice coil problem and not a broken magnet structure you can get it reconed.

I once had a dead speaker that I painted white and made a funny fruit dish with it.
It eventually ended used as an ashtray in the lobby of a practice room.

a good amp repair shop should be able to diagnose if the science experiment recommended above doesn't pan out. IMHO worth checking since Aguilar does make nice gear.

You must have a speaker company in Philly somewhere. Do an internet search to find them. If the driver is repairable it's worth doing so.

several votes for smoking-related paraphernalia, but I don't smoke, so at this point (besides getting it repaired if possible) ceiling light is the best idea, although I do love science experiments.
