| | | | What to do with a cheap broken amp?
Sign in to disble this ad
I have a Behringer Ultrabass BXL450 45W 1x10" Bass Combo that only makes a large high-pitched hissing sound whenever it is turned on (none of the knobs changes the volume or tone of the hiss). When I brought it to a local amplifier repair shop, they said that it will cost me more for them to repair the amp compared to me buying a new one of the same model. So I decided not to have it repaired since I use a GK 210 combo amp right now.
Now I have a broken cheap combo amp sitting in my room, and I'm not too sure what to do with it. What do you guys think I should do with it? I really want to get rid of it though for room space's sake.
Also, what is the proper way of disposing a combo amp?
Thank you in advance!

Maybe put the speaker on craigslist for a minimal amount, so it stays out of the landfill.
The wood parts can go into the normal trash.

Either that or put some fireworks in it and blow it up!

1. Find the tallest building in your area.
2. Take the combo amp to the roof.
3. Gently push the combo amp off the edge of the roof. |

A way back in the stone ages a buddy of mine learned his way around electronics by repairing car stereos, VCR's, TV's that people had tossed away. He was in the vocational school, but all they teached there was the school-book-problems, little to do with the real life. Granted, he didn't make even the minimum wage, nor did he wanted or needed to, but the experience was to prove itself golden in the future.
The problem is/was, there isn't too many young folks who want to learn how to repair something they consider to be disposable items, not worth fixing. I hope that'll change.
Regards
