What do you mic your cab with?

Just out of curiosity.... I have a MusicMan HD 130 and an Ampeg 810, and I find myself preferring a Sennheiser 421 on this setup. It seems to be the best representation in my ear monitors. Just wondering what the rest of you may use, if you have the luxury of choosing. Or what do you find most sound guys putting on your cab? Live or recorded?

a 421 gets the job done for me. I've used an re20 a few times as well and I dig it.

i have an re 20 that a good friend of mine gave me but it has a broken element and needs fixed. i would definitely use it if i had it working again...might have to break down and get it done. but the pr40 is lighter, and if i back off the grill 3 inches, has a response very much like an re 20, so i've put it off. still, if i had it working, it would probably be my go-to mic.

i have a relatively cheap home recording set up and for that use a audix d14 and i think it sounds good but its not the best. When my band recorded i used a shure beta 52a and that sounded even better. If my band has pa support i usually end up with a beta 52.

When I get a chance to mic my cab, 421 all the way. I love that mic!

hey man! explained the whole thing in a pm. it does work. i'm still using it for acoustic and vocals in the meantime. just has a problem with rattling low notes that i was told required an element replacement. don't worry...you're still my favorite canadian and i'm very happy and grateful that you sent me that mic
