Does this mean dual output? I'm very used to the system of 300 watts is 300 watts. Mayhaps I'm a bit old school, but I really like the sound of the Ashdown ABM 900 and I was just flumoxed by why they wouldn't just list the amp's output as 1150W. I don't know much about bridging, except a lot of people do it with GKs, so I've heard. I know this is an area of ignorance on my part, but I couldn't think of a better way to find out, especially not knowing exactly what to search for on the forum.

Not stereo, just dual-mono. Think of it as two 575 watt amps controlled by a master preamp. Which is what it is.

It has 2 power amps (575watts into 4 ohms each) that are not bridgeable.
The preamp (input + eq) feeds both power amps

I want someone to buy it because the wheel of rationalization is spinning in my head as we speak.
I really love my wife and kids and I don't want her to kill me, then go to jail and the kids end up raised by a creepy relative...so please help save a family. F/T ASHDOWN EVO 900 |

All of the Ashdown ABM cabs are 8 ohm cabinets and the ABM head is 4 ohms as I read in the manual. Would that not be mismatching the impedance? Sorry, all my experience is with combos; I went from a redhead to a Walkabout Scout, so this is pretty new to me.

Amps are rated for the minimum impedance they can handle; anyhing higher is fine. You can think of it this way: a short circuit , like if you just connected the speaker termianls of your amp together with a wire, would have an impedance of zero, which would blow up your amp. Having nothing connected to the speaker terminals is effectively infinite impedance as there's no way for current to flow between the terminals. Having your amp on with nothing connected is fine (although it tends not to sound good ).
Also remember that connecting two identical cabs in parallel halves their impedance: two 8 ohm cabs in parallel = 4 ohms. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
