What does the ground lift button do?

I just got a GK backline 600 in the mail today. What does the ground lift button do?

It only relates to the line out, changing its reference for ground from the chassis of your amp to what comes through the XLR cord.
It's a tool to get rid of ground loops, ie 60 cycle hum. Use the most silent position.

No no, it gives you a good reason to come to TB and ask questions that reveal you have not read the manual.

This is a much more social and friendly approach to gaining info.

It doesn't do anything, unless you're sending a DI feed to the PA system.

In that situation, it gets rid of the buzzz that you sometimes get from ground loops. There's no right or wrong way for it to be set. If the sound guy complains about noise, you just push the button, and see if it helps.

... power socket where the PA is plugged in may have a different ground/earth to the plug where your amp is plugged in. The ground lift disconnects the 2.

The ground lift works best when used in conjunction with the drum riser !
