What Else to Try in the Ampeg BA112 price/size range?

I'm looking for that combo that can hang with a light band. I think a 50-70 watt combo with a 12" speaker is ideal.

I recently got rid of my Ampeg BA112. The tone was thin, it had the annoying pop every time I powered it on and it picked up radio stations in my bedroom. Sure Bad Company is great, but not when you're trying to learn something other than "Feels Like Making Love"

$300 range, any suggestions? On my radar is a Fender Rumble or an older Peavey.

I had a BA112 on thought it sounded great. It never picked up any radio stations, was dead quiet. Have you had that problem with any other gear? It would be a shame to replace the Ampeg with another amp only to find the interference was still there and due to some other electrical issue.

I also have an ampeg ba112 that i think sounds great but for the same price you could get a gallien krueger 112 combo that is 200 watts.

I don't think the BA112 sounds thin in the least. You could check out the GK 1x12" MB combo. IMO the BA112 is a great little amp.

I had an Acoustic B200 that I liked, but it was really heavy, so I sold it. Kind of wish I didn't, but maybe the smaller B100 would work for you at used price.
I liked the tone and the brand gets plenty of love here.

No problems with any of my other gear. Maybe I got a dud? The power, size and price were right just couldn't live with the noise.

I'm a big Peavey fan. I like the BASC 112 (red-faced, final release, 2004 or so) 50 watts at 8 ohms, 70 watts when connected to an external 8 ohm cab for a 4 ohm total load. I run a SansAmp BDDI into it to give me a tight, clean sound.

I have two. One stock atop a Lopoline custom cab w/10" Eminence NeoMag and a second with an Eminence/MESA Powerhouse 4 ohm NeoMag. A total of 140 watts, which is more than enough in a 12x12 room with a loud drummer!

I've had a few Ampeg combos. No issues whatsoever with interference with them or any other gear for that matter. Perhaps you did get a problem unit. Too bad.

i used to have a high power 112 combo, and i thought it was pretty good for a while, but i finally came to the conclusion that it's just not enough to make it satisfying on a gig. plenty good for practice, but not for a gig. i love the ba112 and second everyone's comments about it. however, the cheapest and smallest rig i could gig with is the ba115.

I agree with Rob, except I would go for the b100r. I gig with mine all the time. In a light playing band it is perfect.

The older B50Rs sure were nice.

Other than it being heavy for its size, I quite like the Rumble 1x12 combo

I agree that the B100R is fabulous and would do the job. Not sure it matches all of the criteria in the OP, but a really great combo. One of my all time favorites.
