What Happened????

Sign in to disble this ad
Yesterday I got my Eden WT330 on the mail. I hooked it up to my GK cab and was honestly unwhelmed by the performance of both cab and amp. Today I turn it on and it's like a whole different product. It sounds FANTASTIC!! Nice lows and plays well loud. So what could have happened to cause such a big change? The only thing I can think of is the cab had been sitting around for about month and needed to be "broken in".

Thoughts?

Craig

Did anything else change other than the passage of a few hours, like the room placement for the cab, or you pushed the gain boost button, turned compression up or down, etc?

I did turn compression and treble down. It's been playing the same all day.

Edit: Seriously is sounds WAY better, so much in fact I'm a little frightened.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Amps don't mysteriously and all of a sudden get better, so obviously something changed, be it the turn of a knob, a more solid connection between amp and cab, something.

Perhaps put the compressor and treble setting back where they were, and see if it sounds "under-whelming" again?

Such a miracle that you happen to change settings and it sounds different? *confused much?* Just seems like you needed to twist a few knobs and press a few buttons to me. Glad you enjoy the way it sounds though. Always a good thing.

no, turning knobs never changed the sound for me at all.

of course that's what happened! onboard compressors suck, and so does too much treble imho. so i'm not surprised it sounds better.

So turn the knobs back the way they were before, and see if it sounds crappy again. If not, then I'd look at dodgy cables/connections/jacks, as RickenBoogie said.

Oops...skipped right over Jim's post.

I like this thread. An amp that sounds great is a very easy problem to solve.

Knob twisting aside, I know that with my thunderfunk, if the input jack isn't ALL THE WAY inserted, the amp will still work. It will sound incredibly anemic, but it'll work. Perhaps you didn't plug in all the way?

Cords properly plugged in is probably the "miracle" as others have said. I've done the "what the heck" thing when my amp didn't sound quite right, and cords were always the culprit.

David Nordschow's magic fairies slipped in while you were not looking and spinkled eden dust on your amp.

OR

You changed the enhance knob. Most likely turned it off.

Could just be the result of a good nights sleep and fresh ears.
