What Head is the right head? I recently purchased an Acoustic B410 MKII bass cab (600 watt, 8 ohm) for $150 brand new. Now I am in search of a bass head. I know I want to buy used. I have been searching but not sure what will be the best amp for the right price. I am looking in the price range of $150-$300. Here are a few heads that I've been looking at so far. Acoustic B600h-$250 Fender Pro 400-$200 Peavey Max 450-$170 Acoustic B200h-$120 Peavey Mark VIII-$200 Peavey Mark IV-$200 Hartke model 5000-$200 Peavey max 700-$200 Fender Bassman 400-$200 Peavey Firebass 700-$200 Hartke model 3500-$200 They all are in mint condition, let me know which one seems to be the best deal, or other ones that are in the price range. |
Just write the names all down on paper and draw one from a hat. Or just pick the Fender. |
can you get a used markbass head thats discontinued and unfashionable for $300? possibly.. look out for that.. you know we all love markbass. |

My only advice is let your ears make the choice for you. |
.. I glanced at the genres in your profile, I dont even know what most of them are let alone what they would require ... just a suggestion, but find the best buy (cheapest price?) you can on whatever you think will get you through until you can determine what you really need .. there is a good chance you will sell whatever you get down the line once you establish your real need .. consider resale as a priority in your choice ... JMHO BTW, it is always a good idea to mention what you are going up against for other instruments, and other important criteria you need to meet when asking for gear suggestions .. you could be in a small 3 piece combo playing coffee shops, or against 3 whaling guitars playing large halls .. without the info, we have no idea .. :) |
