What the hell did I buy?

Sign in to disble this ad
I just bought a Crate 8x10 cab, at the guitar center in Lexington, KY the other day.I'm not sure what it is and I can not find a single trace of it on the internet. I would love some help figuring out what it is. The speakers say Acoustic Labs 86-513-32 on em. I know it's really loud with a peavy 700w amp. But I really wanna find out what the speakers are and their capacities, so i don't blow em. any help would be appriciated.

A friend of mine had a Crate 4x10 a few years back. He picked it up for $50 off craigslist. It was compact size and rear ported I think. Sound and volume were decent -- excellent if you consider the price

i have a crate 8x10 as well. the BX810E? mine had ports cut into the back of it by a previous owner, but it still sounds pretty...ok. here's a group shot, it's the one with no grill (i took the grill off):

another of just it with the grill on:

i can't remember what speakers are in it, i'll find out tomorrow. if it's the same as yous, know that it isn't an 8 ohm cabinet.

My buddy who is in a doom band has one being pushed by a Ampeg B2R and that thing is monstrous. The combo of the two creates a wonderful huge deep tone. Have fun with the Crate!

This is probably a silly question, a little off topic, but it's sort of bugging me.

Shouldn't you have found out what it was at some point maybe before buying it?

You assume that everyone even knows what different ohmage ratings are let alone checks them before buying a cab!

it's what it looks like.... basically an 810 of a similar type to the Ampeg cabs..... but different components and possibly different details of construction.

The 86-513-32 are a 32 ohm speaker made by a Taiwanese company called "FST"..... I don't have a power rating for them, but they are likely between 50 and 100 watts rated.

ohmage sounds like a terrible garden vegetable. I was in the Lex GC a few days ago and didn't notice the cab. Sorry.

I'm waiting for my buddy to get back to me about his Crate 810. Watts and how many ohms and such. Standby.
