I know they offer both options but I have never heard of a cab being 8 and 4 ohms at the same time. Don't know how true that is but I wanted to throw it out there in case I missed something.
Then I spoke with another person about the Genz Benz shuttle and he told me that this type of amp is "Digital" (meaning not solid state) so the wattage rating in those amps is actually less when compared to a normal solid state at the same rating...
Also that the markbass sounds like computer generated bass... well this is probably long enough I just wanted to see your input on this. |
Cabs don't drive anything -- amplifiers drive (power) passive speaker cabinets like Markbass produces.
What are you asking about Genz Benz? Whether he was right? The ICE modules Genz uses are slightly over-hyped, but the digital power module in the RH450 is supposedly way more 'loud' than the 450 watts it's advertised at. Not all digital amps are created equal.
Markbass has a wide range of heads, and the F1/F500 is quite quick sounding, while the Little Mark series is quite "clean Ampeg" sounding (not really Ampeg FEELING, but sounding....it's there for sure).
Most GC employees never went to college, and while that doesn't really mean anything, they're largely not REALLY in the know about things. They are more quick to simply regurgitate the status quo and the music industry "nuggets" passed down from generation to generation. Things like "15" cabs give you more lows that 10" cabs". Wrong! Or other stupid things like that. They work on commission so do your best to try and figure out WHY they are suggesting one thing over another. They have deals with Markbass and Acoustic, so they'll probably recommend those brands most. You'd be better off asking here (like you did -- nice!). Hope you get your questions answered my people smarter than me
