What is the M6 Carbine Combo Head looks like?

What if you remove the head from a Mesa Boogie M6 Combo 212 to use as a head only with another cabinet? Is it the same as the head only model? Or the frame is open and unusable that way.

Thanks.

I don't believe it's removeable in the same way as a Walkabout is. You'd probably have to buy or build a head case. Why not just use the combo with an ext cab?

You can remove it pretty easily. There are 4 screws on the grille and 4 more holding the head in the 2 space air head. It looks exactly like any other M6 head except it does not have the rack handles.

I've removed mine and used it with many different cabinets. I like the 212 combo, but it is pretty heavy.

Thank you Celton.

The reason why I am asking this is because the store where I would buy a M6 is selling the combo the exact same price as the head unit only. So my thinking is this : Since I want an external Neodymium lightweight cab for gigs I could take the head out of the combo and leave with that Neo cab only. Furthermore if I need more power I could bring the combo AND the cab!

Even better : I could leave the external cab at the practice place and the combo at home. That way I would only have to transport the head. Nice.

So for me I would have a much better deal having the combo than the head only.

Speaking of cab... I will try this week the SWR Golight 4X10 Marcus Miller with the combo. Since the M6 combo is rated at 4 Ohms and the SWR at 4 Ohms also I would get down to 2 Ohms when using both wich the M6 can handle by the flip of a switch. Does somebody here have a tought about that mix and match?

Thanks.

Fine print on the mesa site..... not sure if this applies

http://www.mesaboogie.com/Product_In...ine/index.html

*IMPORTANT NOTICE: Above combo model comes standard at 4 ohms for max output, combo use only.

8 ohm versions are available upon request at no extra cost for use with a second extension cab. Please qualify the application and specify the appropriate impedance.

The M6 is 2 ohm stable. The OP has the right idea in that if he uses an extension cab, he will need to engage the 2 ohm switch on the rear.

Huh +1, and I must've been thinking MPulse 600-or just completely wrong. But, if the op can get the 212 combo for the same price as head only, WIN.
