Angry What is the MOST overkill amp?

Sign in to disble this ad
I want to know what the most overkill amp in the worl is. I don't care if it's 9 million watts, in two semi trailers full of 6 foot tall power tubes, I want it. I can NEVER get enough volume!! I'm sick of playing with guitarists and thei 50 watt ENGL's that never need to go over 2. I want too much power.

So help me out, What is the silliest, loudest most ridiculous amp on this earth?

And pleace don't post that piece of poo Bugera nuke.

The Mesa Titan V12. Some are still floating around, though they stopped producing them. I just got the Mesa M9 and it's kicking the rest of my band's ass, and I was always in your shoes before. I never have to go past 9 o'clock on the master with that baby

TC Blacksmith with a dozen or so of TC's cabs should do the trick.

Verellen Amplifiers - Products

I think the Meatsmoke is overkill. Maybe not the loudest rig out there, but it's the nastiest I've ever heard.

Back in stoneage I played a Alembic F1X preamp into a QSC RMX2450 (2x 750W@4Ohms) fireing a SWR megoliath (2x 4x10"). The stack was so f...ing loud I could blow away both guitars with their Marshall 4*12" fullstack and was barely able to hear our poor drummer anymore. But as mentioned: the secret trick is the lots of moving speaker cone area. Adding a second megoliath (which I never did) might have killed all of us.

You can rectify this with more volume but it's also what frequencies the guitarists are inhabiting. A well mixed album of any genre has each instrument in it's own pocket of distinction.

This might be a useful talking spot for your crew.

You might have to worry about china syndrome if the cooling fails on one of those.

It's not the amp, it's the speakers. Yours are obviously inadequate.

What do you have?

I simply use an SVT and 810, can easily destroy a couple JCM900/800s with 412s.

Also, how do you have it EQd?

+1 on lack of speakers (and possibly lack of knowing how to EQ).

My jaw was literally just hanging there when I saw this picture. Is this an actual production amp, or is it some sort of one-off audiophile home theater amp?

The bleeding edge of usable - teh Crown I-T4000

Any more watts and you hit the limits of a 20 amp / 120v outlet.

http://www.crownaudio.com/pdf/amps/i-tech_thermal.pdf

Plenty of amp to run these two stacks though
