What is that in my cab?

As a heads up to any Ampeg SVT-15 owners out there....

I took the grill off my 15 today to clean it when i saw this in one of the ports:

I thought ***. So I pulled off the speaker and found 2 cardboard tubes.

I figured these must have come off the port cones. Sure enough they fit on the cones but are a little loose so I added a couple dabs of gorilla glue to each and stuck them back on. and now there not moving.

The build quality on this cab is otherwise great. So for anyone with an Ampeg SVT-115 you might want to have a look in your ports. If you can see the padding then you need to reattach them as the insides of the tubes are black. Also an FYI you can pull the tubes out through the ports if you remove the cone. I wish I knew that before pulling off the speaker. Its not hard, it just weighs 5 lbs and is a little awkward.

And in case the images are still not showing:

I found these on the ports of a pair of my stage monitors. I'm pretty sure they are supposed to be there.

yeah, they are supposed to be there. In response to the above, no they are not toilet rolls. They are cardboard, but are of the bigger heavy duty strength tubing.. They are cut to specific lengths to properly tune the ports. they could be made of anything, the cardboard rolls are durable enough for interior use and add no real weight so they are often used over other materials. they should have been better secured, but.. it happens.

Lol I did get. my phone wasn't letting me post my response.

I didn't a/b with and without the tubes and I play mostly at low levels but I want to say they boost the lower frequencies, the ones you feel more than hear.

It's the new 2013 model, SV-TP 115 with boosted brown note frequencies.

Sounds better if they're wrapped with gold foil.

With a perfectly oval diamond suspended by titanium wire in the middle of it.
