What ohms?

Ok, so I really need somebody's advice because GC has a 100 dollar off coupon thats ending tommorow. I purchased the GK mb500 head and I want the GK 410MBE which can handle 800 watts, but it comes in 8 or 4 ohms. The mb500 head has 500 watts at 4 and 350 watts at 8. I would think the 4 ohms would be the way to go, right?

Only if you are absolutely 100% sure that you will never want to add a cab to your rig, because you will be SOL.

Well, a single 410 is a pretty good cab for most gigs. Anything bigger, usually has a PA that you can use at the same time too. So 4 ohm is an alright way to go. I personally prefer the separate 8ohms though.

The 4x10 would be enough for me, but I like the looks of a full stack. I would personally get the 8 ohm in this situation just incase you wanna add another cab down the road.

I would get the 8 ohm ... the 150 watt increase into the single 410 will hardly be noticable ... should you ever need more, you add the second 8 ohm cab to bring it down to 500 watts at the 4 ohm load it will be quite noticable ... more speaker surface is more noticable than slightly more power ... that way if you opt for a different cab configuration in the future you can also be more modular .. jmho

Go 8 ohm, gives you options for future expansion

Shows how much I know. Been playing guitar and bass on and off for 18 years on my own. Now that The kids are getting holder I finally have time to play in a band so I had never owned any thing bigger than a combo amp. It will be the 8 ohms for sure. I think the gk neo410 will be sufficent.

Thanks a bunch
