Thanks for your help | Try a GK NEO 410.
Also it may not be your cabs, it may be your amp. |

Some will love Fearfuls for the hi Fi Vibe others will want full range 4x12" and 4X15 with 100 tube watts growling fat distorted motorhead midbass.
Others want to mix Clean and FX/dirty rigs.
Doom stoners want rumbling muddy grunge with little definition.
What do you want?. |

Thanks for your help | The problem you have is that that cab is NOT a great match for that head. If I put that head on my Epifani nyc 4x10, it would *kill*. I actually have a GS 2x12 that I need to sell - not my fav cab by a long shot.

| | | | I am using a Schroeder 210Pl. It is very quick and tight, not boomy at all.
But everyone else is right, you should probably try a different amp first.
If you are looking for a more hifi sound, a pre amp and power amp configuration may work better for you. A Demeter 201, michael pope, or a kern or reed purity (if you can find one) and any high quality power amp might get you closer to a hifi sound and less like a "bass amp"
Have you tried plugging directly into a mixer connected right to studio monitors? |

IIRC the GS series Aguilar are kind of know to be a bit mid lean and bass heavy. The DB series are supposed to be more mid forward. Maybe try some of their DB series 2x12 and 4x10 cabs?

The size and weight is less than many 6 x 10 or 2 x 15 boxes - and it rocks. The 8 drivers give you lots of cone area for solid lows and they're small so they have really good transients.
If you've never heard one, you'll be floored. |

But anyway with limited experience I can say the Mesa's make the best sound of any that I have played through. I would think they are very versatile at handling what ever tones you want to feed them.
Also FWIW I've read more than one place that running 2 different cabs (15's, 10's, 12's - whatever mix) off the same feed will not produce good results as the response time of the various size speakers are not the same and you will get sound that is out of phase. Short of running a fully bi-amp set-up that is.
Best bet is to go try out a bunch. |

Thanks for your help | I use the Thunderfunk 750A and 550B with 2 Aguilars DB 12. Also with a Berg AE 410 and Accugroove whappo Jr. The Thunderfunk to can get a pretty close to the sound of the DB750. Any of these would do nicely. But some say the Aguilar cabs are not good with it. The DB12's sound great with the Thunderfunk and i think it would do the same with your 750.

Thanks for your help | JMHO - DNA DNS-410. 1400WRMS, 2800 Peak. Screams and warm at the same time, very punchy. If you're anywhere near NAshville, you're welcome to come play with mine; or if you're in FL, I'll be bringing a couple of them into Disney World in July for the Sounds Like Summer concert series. Got rid of my aggies and SWR stuff as soon as I heard one. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
