3u... I would go with 4 so you can put a power conditioner in there too.

I would go 4 also, but wouldn't piss my money away with a power "conditioner"...

A 4U isn't significantly bigger than a 3U, but allows for add-ons that are actually funtional - like a wireless receiver or a compressor...

Here's mine:

How much bigger is than going to be compared to a 2u? Just thinking of keeping weight/size as low as poss and may not bother with a rack tuner.

Each rack space is 1.75 inches. However, you need to read up on each rack - they amount they add to the actual rack spaces for the case varies.

personally, w/ a LMII I'd wait a bit for the hard case to come out and get a pitch black tuner and velcro it to the top . . . which is actually what I'm doing

Get a nice big one, so you have room later, because you are GOING to want to add stuff, and in the meantime, you can leave space between the head and the tuner to keep everything cool.

+1

In the past I've had 6 space racks full of gizmos (the wood ones with the aluminum edges), as well as all tube heads in similar roadcases. I currently use a 2 space rack bag and wouldn't have it any other way.
