What Speaker In Ampeg BA-112?

Sign in to disble this ad
I just picked one up for cheap but it sure is heavy for a low end 60 watt combo. Wondering what Ampeg uses for the 12".
Probably some OEM version of an Eminence, but which one?

Good question. I bought one for a practice amp a couple years ago and absolutely love it, especially for the price. And I was never a big Ampeg fan. It is a little weak in a band rehearsal situation with a banging drummer, I wonder if a speaker upgrade would help. I'll be following this thread.

LOL...I bought it three days ago and haven't even plugged it in. They must weigh these down with lead though.

I picked up a B&C Neo 12(12 HPL76) last week too, but according to BFM, it's not an ideal bass speaker. I might swap it in there though just for grins. This amp will be for practice only unless it'll handle a soft jazz gig or something.

I believe they weigh it down with particle board construction. A neo speaker will take off some weight but if the box is particle board it will still weigh more than plywood construction.

They weigh 39 lbs. or...one heavy dumbell.
