What would you do? buying new gear

So I work in a shop and I can get some brands at cost i.e. EBS, Orange, TC Electronic. I've only played the Orange Tiny Terror bass gear in the shop and it was cool but not the tone I want. I haven't played the EBS stuff or the TC gear but I get all that gear at cost as well.

I'm really digging the Aguilar gear, however I'd have to buy outside of my shop (which I've done before).

What would you do? Get the gear you want or buy something cause you get it at a killer price and find the closest thing to what you really want?

Try all you can and buy what you like best regardless of cost. The sweetness of low price won't outweigh the bitterness of ending up with a piece of unsatisfying gear.

If you get anything other than Aguilar you'll always be GASing for Aguilar.

Agreed. I was GASing hard for a Mesa cab, and waited for the right one to pop up used. I ended up finding a almost new PH412, and haven't looked back. It's always best to just save and get what you originally wanted IMO.

+1

Also, try to audition the gears yourself before buying. In my case, I was GAS-ing for GK MB500/NEO410 and when I finally tried one, it didn't fit my preferences.

You might want to check out a TCE Blacksmith into an RS210/RS210/RS212 stack.
That should kick some serious booty!
