I just had a look on Amazon.com and they are selling the Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 12T for $769.00. What's with that? MF is selling the same thing for $1199.00. How can Amazon sell it that cheaply?

| | | | sometimes They do it, i.e. 1400.00 basses for 750.00, but there was a lengthy discussion in the hot deals area as to whether you might get a 2nd or returned item. fyi |

This happened on the Spector NS-2-J-AR basses a few months back as Amazon and a few other places had them listed for like 40% off the bass specialty shops' prices and they were B-stocks or returns, etc.. and it wasn't being indicated as such. |

Shipping was free. Very little hassle to return it - I just filled out a form online, printed a return receipt and UPS picked it up from my front door.
Yes, I think some of the items on Amazon are returns or 2nds. But with the killer return policy, it would be worth the gamble, I think. |

| | The older I get, the better I was. | | Join Date: Sep 2005 Location: Pasadena, CA | | | I bought an Aguilar DB115 at a special discount price (usually $750, on sale for $500-something). They had more than one available at that price, and it shipped direct from Amazon - brand new, still sealed in the factory box. I'm not sure how or why, but it was a great deal for me. |

| | | | I recently acquired a lefty Kingston Heir from Amazon. It was delivered the day after I ordered it and in absolutely perfect condition with a perfect set up. Of course there will be issues with certain examples of any line of products, but Amazon is pro set up. I've not had any problems with the stuff I buy from them. |

| | | | I haven't purchased anything expensive, but I have purchased a fair amount of gear through Amazon. Good delivery and prices along with a no-hassle return policy, which I have used once. Everything I've received (maybe 10 orders) has been new as near as I can tell--not returns that they are re-selling. |

There are a few different types of transaction on Amazon--some items are actually sold by Amazon, some are stocked, billed, and shipped by Amazon for a third party, and some are merely listed on amazon.com, you deal strictly with a third party for billing, shipping, returns, etc.
I try to stick to dealing with Amazon for the most part. You can tell which items are actually sold by Amazon on a search results page by the words "Eligible for FREE Super Saver Shipping". On the page for the item, it will say "Ships from and sold by Amazon.com."
If you deal with a third party, there may be standards and requirements that must be met by the seller in order to list on amazon.com, but I don't know anything about them.
