The 'best bass amp' is the one that sounds like what you want your tone to be, and what you can afford to buy...finding it involves playing thru pretty much everything in your price range and deciding from there.

One that makes me sound like John Entwistle. And play like him too, if that's possible.

I don't know, personally I've always found Laneys to be a pretty good bet, but then I've not played through any 'high-end' bass amps. I did go through a Fender a couple of weeks ago that was quite nice. Not convinced by Mark Bass. Or Marshall, for that matter...

The best bass amp I tried when I was in the market was the one I wasn't even going to try. I hadn't heard of Yorkville prior and had my eye on a GK1001.. Played through the same cab I had at home, and the the Yorkie KILLED the GK.
In fact, I've yet to find an amp that sounds better to me than the one I ended up taking home with me that day!

Right now it's the one I don't mind carrying around. Markbass CMD 121H. It don't have to be big. I'm not playing with Zepellin.

(I think the Devil made you ask this question, LOL).

There's an old Yamaha combo in my brother's church. I think it has "B115" printed on it. 15inch speaker and huge cabinet with a port across the bottom that must be 5inches high. It sounds like God to me, especially with a Compressor-Sustainor and a ProCo Rat distortion on my G&L L2000 or AtelierZ 5-string. The B and E shakes the whole church. It's sitting right next to an Ampeg tilt-back 15inch combo that sounds like **** in side-by-side comparison.
