What's the best way to run two Peavey VB2 heads together?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a big room show coming up and I'm thinking of using 2 VB2 heads (each with it's own cab).
What's the best way to run them in parallel?
I want to use the front panel tone settings on each (not slave one to the other).
Should I plug my bass into one head's input and run a cord from that head's tuner out into the other head's input?

You can use the tuner out of the first to the input of the other. I recommend trying the low gain input of the second head since you will already have run through one tube stage of the first head. There may be a phasing problem between the speaker cabinets since the tuner out is phase reversed. You would need to reverse one of your speaker cables to get around that.

I'm thinking with an industrial pair of hearing protectors.

Couldn't you just slave the 1st head's preamp to the power stage of the 2nd head?

Or, use a stereo fx pedal, and run the left out to amp 1, and right out to amp 2.

Well, it sounds simple, but a y cord will do the job. You may have to lift the ground on one side if you had a hum problem.

Another solution would be to us a small mixing console, like a little one or two channel, and use the left right outs, or aux sends

Or the aforementioned a/b/y pedal

Sounds like the Y cord is the best way to go then.
Thanks y'all.

Try using a line selector, my guitarist runs his two heads that way and it works a treat.

So, patching right from the input jacks may be an option. there may be a little attenuation, but worth a shot.

If my bass is plugged in the low gain input, I think plugging a patch cord out of the other input will switch out my attenuator and make low gain not so.
Good idea tho.
I think I'll take your first suggestion and get a y.
