Seriously, it's personal preference. You should try them both, and let your ears decide.

Seems to me the STL 900 tone is way to bass heavy and a but scooped, I think thet that cab requires a bit more hi fi of a signal. I will a/them this week though.

I owned a pair of Berg HT322's for a couple years and currently have an STL 900 and an SM 12.0. IME the Shuttle 9.0 would be a better match for the HT322 because it's tighter with a little less bloom on the bottom and more mid presence. In the same way, the STL 900 is outstanding with the Berg AE410 and Uber 410 which are tighter down low and have more mid presence than the HT322. It's all very nice gear. The sweet spot depends on your tonal preference and the right mix n' match with amp, cab, and bass. Even with the same amp and cab play a jazz bass, Precision, and Sting Ray and hear the differences.

I play two basses one one is a carvin sb5000 (jazz bass) and a Philip Kubicki ex factor. And and it seems that for my high energy cover band I need a more pronounced tone something a bit more growly not as warm and bassy.

I've found the STL to be VERY murky in a band setting, & have struggled to get a decent sound out of it-in a band. By itself-sounds superb!
I swapped around a few tubes in it last week, & I got a far clearer tone outta it. Worked far better at the gig last weekend.
A JJ AU7 in V2 pos = less of a mid scoop. I didn't have another AU7 handy, but I wanted to try one in the V3 pos also

I know what you mean i feel the mids get a bit lost in the mix with the STL, sounds fantastic when i slap it cuts right through but it lack the aggressive tone i expected from it. Do you guys think that the shouttle would get me closer to an almost Gallien growl? I'll try to swap the tubes before i get rid of the STL see if that helps

Don't know re getting the GK growl, but I do know the Shuttle cuts thru much more easily IME.
The STL seems to have plenty of grind, but you lose all clarity because of it's 'scoop' or built in 3D whatever???
This is with the cabs I've used it with & my experiences, & the bands I play in, & sound engineers etc....only, I can't speak for it thru any other cabs other than Bergantino AE410-seems best. AE212,AE112, NV215, HS410, Mark Bass HR151STD,HF410STD. GK410RB. Wish I still had a NV610 to try it thru!

Might be worth trying the RCA tube mentioned in the Stl thread. I'm going to try a few different combinations. I've got 3 different tubes in there now, to what it came with. I'll let u know....

I'm going to wait to see how the streamliner does in an out door gig in two weeks before I explore other options. I have a feeling that's when it will shine!

Seems like a pretty magical design, the STL. The amount of difference I've got so far, simply by swapping a couple of tubes! Amazing!
To MY ears at least, I've managed to get it to be far more articulate, which is what I needed.
I've always loved the sound of the STL, & now it seems to be doing just what I need it to in a band setting!
Great!

My regular rig is Stingray 5 > Shuttle 9.0 > Berg HT322. It sounds amazing, very clear and full range. When I want aggressive I kick on a Tech 21 VT Bass.

Haven't tried the Streamliner yet so I can't comment on that.

I'm slowly starting to get accustomed to how the streamliner works, and how versatile it can be. The HT322 may be a bit mid shy for some but I think it's paring nicely with the STL. I have a feeling this rig will really shine this saturday were I will be outdoor gigging this rig for the first time. Finally all the pillowy and fat bottom that some may call boomy in the wrong setting will shine through. And since learning to tweak the eq and gain settings im getting a damn good tone even in our Rehearsal space. What I think I'm going to do is save up and buy a shuttle so I can have the best of both worlds.

If you do, get the 9.0 or 9.2, not the 6.0. The extra headroom definitely makes a difference with the HT322.

If you're going to lift a BIG, HEAVY cab like that, you might as well...

what do you want with a wimpy little 6 lb 'digital' amp? Get a new Heritage SVT (which are superb, btw), an Orange 200 watt tube thingy, a Mesa Carbine 9, or a really nice Summit pre/compressor paired up with a Crest CA9 power amp. What the heck, blow that spinal column; you don't NEED all those disks in your back!

Cheers,
Cameron

A better fit would be a 2nd HT322 cabinet.
Place a head that goes to 2 ohms on top, and lookout!
