Whats is better for medium Rock Gigs?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm looking at buying a stack for use with my rock/metal band but i don't know weather a 410 or a 210 and 115 would be better? I want lots of low end and a nice modern rock tone? Anybody know which will be better? Also i will be using Ashdown MAG EVO II Cabs with a MAG 300 EVO II Head if that helps. thanks in advance

Yes, i know that, but if i get 2 cab's i want a 115, because i was planning to get the 15 later on even if i get a 410, i was just wondering weather the 210 and 115 would be better for my purposes, other than the obvious power increase as the heads operating to full potential at 4ohms. Also the 15 is cheaper than the 210, and i'm on a tight budget.

I like my GS210 and GS115 setup. And my other bassist friends who've tried it out really like it, too.

But, a GS410 also sounds really good.

Bottom line: either one will work. If you don't have a preference based on the sound, then go for the option that is less expensive and more flexible (i.e. modular). I definitely think a 210+115 is more than adequate for a "medium" gig.

I've always been partial to 4x10's for a modern rock tone, but I've really been digging a lot of the 2x12's that are available now.

Just curious, any reason you're set on getting Ashdown?

Because i have a few local Ashdown dealers around here, and i can get cheaper prices on them. Also, Ashdown amps have the tone i like, and the reliability i need as i might not be able to get a new amp for a while after this. And they are also my favourite amp manufacturer from all the ones i have played in the past.

your head operates at its full potential regardless of the impedance. besides, the difference with extra speakers is way more significant than the extra wattage.

anyway, a 210 and 115 both from ashdown would probably work out ok. i personally would do a two 210 vertical stack or a 215 vertical stack, but if you have your heart set on a mixed cab rig, then a 210 is better cab to use with it than a 410. 410's will drown out most 115's and go as low or lower, but a 210 is more evenly matched with a 115 volume wise.

The 2x115 stacks i have heard tend to be really boomy, but theres no harm in me giving it a try really, so i might take a look into that option also. Thanks for the insight people
