What's the difference between the GK MB2-500 and MB-500?

I don't think the new MB-500 is out yet, but the GC specs say that the MB-500 has the same features as the MB2, but it's slightly heavier and has different dimensions. Of course the GK site doesn't have any info either

Anyone know what the differences are?

ETA, looks like the MB2 has the speaker jack that use either 1/4" or Speakon and the MB has only Speakon. Can anyone verify that?

I'd go by what those guys say regarding dimensions and weight. GC doesn't do too well with that sort of thing. I think it's just the final iteration of the A00-A08 engineering mess that plagued the earlier versions, to keep it sort of hush hush for those that didn't hear anything about it.

I think it's the same thing. They dropped the "squared" sign for clarity...and yes, to serve it as a new product which has the initial problems fixed. I think MB-500 starts from A07.

According to RMC, GK added a limiter to the MB along with the name change. Apparently though, GK has pushed back shipping on them a few times already. Hope that doesn't mean problems with the new units.

From RMC Audio web site: "The Gallien Krueger MB-500 is a slightly refined version of the MB2-500 Ultra Light Bass amplifier.......GK has redone the EQ and made a few minor tweaks on the MB-500."

I wonder in what direction the "redone" EQ leans toward. The current RB series, the classic original RB stuff...like the 400rb and 800rb ?
Or something different all toether.

The first versions of the MB2 was bass heavey according to some on Talkbass. Bob came back and said that it was due to the removal of the Presence circuit from the 700RB setup which was the baseline for the MB2. The Presence circuit in the 700RB set flat actually put a slight gain in the in Treble, High Mid, and Low Mid relative to the initial MB2. Because of the Talkbass input somewhere in the MB2 revision process, the EQ was tweaked so that MB2 flat EQ was more like the 700RB flat EQ.

O.K., there were 2 EQ versions of the MB2. Is the Mb-500 EQ identical to the second EQ version of the MB2 or is it a third version of the EQ with additional tweaks? If so, what are the tweaks?
I'd like to hear the answer from Bob at G.K.

No EQ changes from later rev MB2-500. We added the limiter with a switch on the top cover. That is all.

What does the switch do, and exactly where is it?

On the top of the unit will be a switch that will allow you to defeat the limiter. The limiter keeps you from pushing the amp too hard if you are near its power limits. They have a limiter on the MB combos already and I am guessing they are using the same tried and tested circuit on the MB head.

I'm not sure if this is the right thread to post to but...
If I buy a used MB2-500 and it turns out to be an old revision can I still get a replacement from GK?
I can't find the details on the GK web site.
