What's your favorite Tube (pre)Amp?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey Amp guys! This is my first thread here, I usually post in the Effects section hehe.

Well, wanted to know which one's your favorite Tube Amp... but more intended towards the Pre section of it!

I love SVTs for example, but love Fender based preamps (Alembic F2B, Mesa 400, etc) more than the Ampegs.

I love the pre section of a Fender Bassman beacuse you can put anything through it and it will preserve the low end, without distorting easily. Also it gives you plenty of tube saturation to make your tone sound warm and puchy

That Jule Monique looked awesome (specially the metal chassis one!) couldn't find any good audio samples of it though .

My favorite tube pre would be whatever makes up the Mesa M6 Carbine front end. If I had the money I would have one.

I'm the opposite of the OP. Not a fan of Fender tone stacks.

My current favorite is the front end in my Genz Benz Streamliner 900. Second place would be a good mic preamp.

For the way I prefer to run my larger stage rigs, I prefer the Aguilar DB659 to the 680. I realize that's an odd choice, though.

If you look outside of tube pieces marketed specifically for bass, Universal Audio's 6176 and LA-610 are sweet choices for pillowy R&B tones.

I love my EBS Vlavedrive pedal into my fx Return. Great tone to it.

Cool! The Valvedrive seems to be a hotter variation of a Fender-type Preamp!
