Wheel Adjustments on Cabs

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys,

I've been a long-time reader of these forums and decided to actually sign up yesterday. Glad to be onboard!

Anyway, I hopped into Guitar Center today and got an awesome deal on some new gear. However, upon getting home I realized that one of the casters needs a height adjustment (resulting in the cab looking slightly crooked). Any ideas how to fix this?

PS - Even though it's a self-bought Christmas gift, I can't see it again until Christmas. So sorry, no pics :/

Put a beer coaster under the wheel that's too low.

That was the obvious solution to me, but there's still that pickiness that everything needs to be perfect.

I'd exchange it. That's what Guitar Center is for. Bain Capital can afford it.

So I would just bring it back to the store to swap out?

Yep.

There really isn't any way to adjust the height. The plates get screwed to the bottom and that's that. Unless you start shimming the one that is too low, but since it's a new cab you shouldn't have to do that. Just check the next one before it leaves the store, preferably on a hard surface, not carpet.

The problem with these is that the plate is screwed to the surface, but three are extended about and inch by a thin metal pole. The fourth is as if the caster is adjusted so that pole doesn't extend it an inch.

I'll try and get some pictures to put up, because I feel like this is an easy fix.

On all of my castors the extended thin metal pole you're talking about is welded in place. I've never seen an adjustable one, with the exception of Mesa track lok casters, but they are just easily removable, not height adjustable.

I have seen casters that pop out, so you could try making sure all of them are seated in place properly.

To me it sounds like the cab was dropped on that one caster and thus pushed it further in than the other 3.
