when re-covering a bass cab.........

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi. I want to recover my MarkBass CL108, the current tolex is getting ripped from regular practice/shows etc...... Is it ok to apply the new tolex right over the old, or is it best to remove the old tolex first. My second question is this, does anyone have pictures of how you tackle the corners. Also, what's the best kind of adhesive to use. Thanks for your time

You must remove the old and prepare the surface. Google Tolex replacement to find many on-line tutorials.

Thanks for the reply. That's what I figured, what type/brand glue do you recommend? Thanks

3M's "Super 77" spray glue is used a lot. Good, strong stuff but it dries and sticks quickly, not a lot of room for error. If you're new to this you may want to search around for something that has a little longer time between wet, tacky and dry so you can peel up and re-stick if you don't get something exactly straight the first time. Other than the internet, you can ask around at local fabric stores or check out stuff at home depot or wherever that they use to do laminate countertops, etc.
