When will the new AMPEG PF cabs ship???

I have spoken with Guitar Center 3 different times since I first ordered my PF500/PF115he stack.

ordered March 1
Original order due date: march 14th
B/O Inquiry: They told me March 23
Called to double check last week: April 1st
Called today 3/23 to double check: Possibly the second week in april

Maybe someone from AMPEG or LOUD can give us Tb'ers an idea.

I will remain pateint, but hope not to keep having the date pushed back too far without any reasoning.

They answer on Facebook much quicker. They have some PR guy that basically lives on Facebook and Twitter.

Anytime you "pre-order" something, you really aren't much better off than if you just wait for the item to come in stock. In todays world of instant grattification - patience is hard to come by. That said - last I had heard it was sometime possibly mid April for cabs to arrive.

+1 on pre-ordering. I learned my lesson last year by ordering an Ampeg Heritage CL head. I have a reg. CL but I fell for the hype and pre-ordered one from Samash ( 5 months wait) then canceled to free my credit and get a Ric. I'm sure these cabs will be out soon and then I might look at them.....

If I can't play it or at least have played the same make/model, I don't want it.

I get turned off by the excessive hype and wait. I see this with pedals. If companies are going to show it at NAMM it should be ready to ship. End of story. It's more poor management by Ampeg.

While I disagree about NAMM (All industries do this - Trade shows are *not* "for sale" shows...) I do agree that the hype in the marketspace is annoying. PARTICULARLY anything GC carries, since they really dominate the market in the US. If GC says "The new XXX is great", then it will make money...

Additinally, given all the mixed feedback I've read about newer Ampeg gear, I would *never* risk my money on an Ampeg piece I didn't actually hear with my own ears.

actually, management at ampeg is pretty great now. they're very involved in the social networking (including responding to stuff here), their cs is great now, and they actually care about living up to the ampeg legacy as opposed to the previous head idiot who didn't give a crap. so the cabs came out a little longer than they originally thought...get over it. what company out there doesn't bring new stuff out at namm then take a few months for it to ship? genz benz is probably the only one. you're all free to be whiny and impatient, but i don't think that's ampeg's or any other company out there's fault.

and harry, i wouldn't buy ANY amp without trying it first.

That's just it - Ampeg may well be vastly improved -- but they have lived on hype for so long that I, for one, would need to be convinced. And a magazine article or hype on TB is not going to convince me. I gots to PLAY it.

My last mistake like this was buying a Aguilar GS-212 without ever playing one. It was cheap and nearly new, so I figured it was worth the risk. It's not terrible... but I was expecting *more*, given all the Aggie hype on this board. Okay, so the GS is *not* the DB - lesson learned... But was reminded of what I always tell folks (yes, I had to eat some private crow) - Play before you pay.

By the way: Anyone want to buy a barely used Aggie GS212??

harry, given what happened when loud was run by an idiot, where they did live on hype, i can't say i blame you. the new guard at ampeg can't say it but i can

but they've convinced me that they've done a total 180 and are trying really hard to rectify huge bungling mistakes that jaime engen made. you can call that hype if you want, but i do use their new stuff in the field all the time, and i like it despite owning the two king daddy amps of ampeg at their best.

I just bought my 2nd B-100R so I'm not trying to run the Ampeg name down. I respect your opinion Jimmy but it sounds like wishful thinking at this point. It is irresponsible to push a product that's not ready for distribution. I called Ampeg recently and they were helpful and great to deal with so I know they're trying. They just don't seem to be all the way back. They have a great history and a unique sound. I hope they get it together soon.

I ordered without playing it or hearing it because i like the Ampeg sound and i was looking for a smaller setup than i used to have. I'm fairly confident about the sound meeting my expectations.

So back to the original question? Amps are out there already, but the cabs are not.

Maybe Jimmy M can mind meld

with the Ampeg guys and forsee the future
