Who plugs straight in? What do you use?

Bass(es) & amp. Let's have it. Tuner can be an exception, otherwise no pedals, no nothing. What gear do you use?

Genz Benz ShuttleMax 12.0 > Uber 212 and Schroeder 1212L only... Except when I plug in all of my pedals.

Meh--I'd bet 99% of bassists worldwide don't even have a tuner in line, just bass and amp. You're probably thinking it's not that way just because the tech-heads and gear-heads on TB (like me) make such a production of all the gear. People don't use so many gadgets in "the real world".

Exar's business is on hold for now. I will still help previous customers.

08 Fender American Standard Jazz > Ampeg SVT 7 Pro > Ampeg SVT 410HLF. The ampeg rig is unfortunately in my parents basement and I miss it dearly. I am bandless at the moment so its at my parents instead of taking up space in my apartment. So for now I'm running the same bass into and GK MB210 combo. Thats it, not even a pedal tuner (though i wouldn't mind one). I tried an octave pedal once and decided quickly effects were not for me.

Right--with all the gearheads on TB I'm probably asking the wrong group of people but I doubt there's a place on the www where purists so-to-speak converge.

Bass -> Tuner -> Sound City Bass 150 or GK 400RB

The only effects pedal I have ever used is a Sansamp into a Markbass LMII.

P or Renaissance RB-4 into one of my GKs or the blackface Showman and whatever cab compliment makes the most sense for the gig.

The upright, alas, must go through a ParaDI first since it has one of those meh BP-100 piezo bridge pup's.

Nothing against effects, just haven't needed them for the sorts of gigs I'm doing lately. Subject to change w/o notice

roscoe 6er(new strings) monster cable, 2pro, swr 15 cab. Heaven.................Most of that stuff (pedals)are tone robers anyway. I have done a lot of taping and listining and the bass sounds better with nothing in line unless you have a ****** bass i guess.

I don't understand - what makes the sound?

In my current incarnation, as a "bedroom" bassist, I use Yamaha BB414 --> Boss Rc-50 --> headphones

Best gigs I had: some passive bass --> Ashdown ABM EVOII-300 210 combo

Best sound I had according to some musician friends: a cheap Stagg P copy with flats --> soundman's DI box --> FOH system (I did have the Ashdown on stage and I think it was overdriven a little, so it was heard in the room)

Most frustration I had at a gig: Active Musicman bass --> BBE Optostomp compressor --> Korg G5 synth --> DOD Overdrive --> EBS Chorus --> Ashdown

but I admit, i had some great times with effects, it's just that often they do not add anything - there's a time and place for everything

Lately,

1966 P-Bass-TI-Flats, Boss tuner, Genz Benz "Streamliner 600,
Custom Schroeder 2x15 cab.
P. S., I use a $150.00 Monster Bass cable, it makes all the difference.

Squier VM Jazz
Behringer 3500 head
Hartke Transporter 4x10
Snark tuner (on the headstock, off the headstock)

Amp was bought used for $300 total (saving up to help my daughter with college).

I run the head mostly neutral and dial it in off the Jazz. I get tons of compliments on the tone. I wish I got as many compliments on my skill and technique.
