Whole lotta static coming out of Shuttle 6.0 - but cabinet only

Anyone know what might be going on here? Playing thru my church's rig yesterday (Shuttle 6.0 and Hartke 4.5 XL cab), and when I got done with the first song I realized there was a huge amount of noise coming out of the cab. Like a cross between white noise and static. However (thankfully), signal going to the FOH via the onboard XLR was clean and clear.
FWIW settings were Pre Gain 12 o'clock, Pre Volume 3 o'clock, Master Volume about 10 o'clock. The noise was present both with a bass plugged in and not. The mute switch muted the signal to the house but did not stop the noise coming out of the cab.
tweeter? cabs can't generate noise only reproduce it.
Understood. What I meant in the subject line is that the white noise is only coming out of the cabinet, not the line to the board. So I'm suspecting the problem lies somewhere in the speaker out circuit and/or jack.
Also, I forgot to say in initially - turning the master volume up and down does directly impact the volume of the white noise coming out of the cab.
i would see if you can turn the tweeter down on the cab. the cab is only reproducing the amp's noise. so if it's noisey, and the tweeter on the cab isn't adjustable, just cut a bit of the highest treble frequency on the amp's eq.
I didn't experiment with the EQ on the head, but since the "High" knob was at 12 o'clock and the "Bright" (or whatever it's called) switch was disengaged, we certainly weren't boosting the highs excessively.

If pre maybe the preamp tube is failing and needing to be replaced?
I certainly hope not. We've had the head less than two years and it only gets used about 6 hours a week between practice and services.

that really doesn't mean much when it comes to tubes these days. old USA ones can last 30 years or more, but some of the new remakes can go bad (noisey or microphonic) in a week or less. 12AX7's are really inexpensive to replace so, IMO, it's no big deal.
