Why are 15s the only odd-numbered drivers?

6, 8, 10, 12, 18... I guess you have 3" and 5" mid drivers too so it's not the "only" one but it's really the only one in the spectrum of musical instrument/bass cabs. Just wondering if there's a reason for that. Someone didn't want to make a 14" or a 16"?

Many years ago I heard talk about 21" speakers, and anecdotes about a local bassist that had a cab containing 1 or 2, but I have never seen one myself. A quick Google turned up this:

Bass Speaker 21"-Bass Speaker 21" Manufacturers, Suppliers and Exporters on Alibaba.com

Why? Just because they're as useless as a screen door on a submarine?

That's a good question. I am not sure.

There are some interesting woofer sizes in the Home Audio market of 5 1/4" and 6.5"

It was a failed plot by the Illuminati to control bass thunder. The Stonecutters won out. It's on wikipedia, I'm sure.

Are we talking about the diameter of the frame, the suspension, or the cone?

Fifteen is divisible by three.

Three is the magic number. Yes it is, it's the magic number.

I had a Farfisa 2+2 combo amp(built for their combo organs but sounded ok for bass) that had a 15 and a half inch speaker.Didn't discover that until I tried to replace the original speaker.Had a horn too.I had two of these things.

I remember the great 7 string jazz guitarist George Van Epps used two custom made Altec Lansing fifteen & a half inch speakers.
