Why is everyone selling their Aguilar Cabs?

Sign in to disble this ad
Everything I've ever heard about Aguilar cabs has been phenomenal. They probably have the most positive reviews of any company regarding cabinets, other than Berg's. But it seems that throughout CL and in the TB forum, there are more Aguilar cabs for sale than any other brand!

I'd like to add i'm in no way hating on Aguilar, I'm just curious. I'm even in the market for an Aggie 410 to match with my SVT-CL. The Ampeg 410 PRO just isn't doing it for me.

Maybe it's just my eyes catching the word Aguilar since I want one

I love my GS112 cabs, but I'm itching to try DB112s so maybe other folks are in a similar fit.

I'm telling you I've never had any cabs that sound as good as these but I know I would trade them straight up for DB112s. Maybe that's a good question: what are they hoping to replace them with?

I loved my GS112's. I just happened to love the HT112ER a little more. Aguilar makes terrific stuff - it's all about capturing the sound that works for you.

These trends come and go. One month it's Markbass, then Mesa, now it's Aguilar, and who knows what next. Whatever the current mainstream trend is, you can guarantee you will see a lot of that stuff hit the used market once the next great "gotta have it" product comes out.

Here is the REAL reason.

Instead of practicing, people are posting on talkbass. Instead of developing skills to make them a better player, they are reading reviews of gear that the psuedo experts on talkbass say will make them a better player. Instead of putting in the time they need to really understand the instrument and the possibilities that lie within, they complain and sell the gear to buy the next best rig that will make them that "great player" that only having XYZ Brand will do.

Only kidding

It's really because Victor Wooten plays Hartke

I have one and everyone tells me the sound is killer. The only drawback i can see with them is they are really heavy.

I've had my GS212 since '03, I believe, and it's not goin' anywhere! I usually run it with my GK 700RBII, and absolutely love that pairing.

The same reason all of the previous generation of "boutique" stuff is getting dropped like hot rocks; it's either heavier than it needs to be, underengineered, or a combination of the two.

The Aguilar stuff is just heavy.

The Aguilar 12s are fantastic. Screw the weight. 40 or so lbs for a 1x12 is alright when you consider the build/tone.

+1. "Why is everyone selling X?" threads are cyclical, too.

ETA: Here we go.

Shuttle 9.0 Why so many folks selling Shuttle 9.0s?

LMII What's up with people selling off their LMIIs?

Aggie cabs in 2003 Why are you selling your Aguilar cabinets?

Epifani 3X10s Why are so many selling their Epifani 3-10's?

It can't be everybody selling their Aguilar cabs, BTW. I really dig my DB410, it's not going anywhere.

That's cuz GS112's SUCK!! (..if anyone's selling or trading a GS112 PM me please!!)

I've never seen a mass selling on anything for a specific reason. People dont wake up one day and realize the gear they rave about suddenly sucks ...

I don't know about "everybody," but I'm selling my GS410 simply because of the weight, the same reason I'm selling my Berg HT322. Lugging them around is a taking toll on my aging back. I'm keeping my two GS112s so not all Aguilars are being sold.
