Why would anyone use EQ?

I think it's pointless. Any real player can get the tone from their fingers, especially with only a bridge pick up only. Could someone inform me why people use EQing?

Salud!

Your fingers can't cut frequencies below 80 Hz, nor boost 3,5 db at 370 Hz with a given width, nor compensate certain frequencies depending on the venue, nor...

EQ doesn't really do anything anyway. It's just a scam by amp manufacturers to trick you into buying new stuff.

Besides, everyone knows that all bass amps sound the same.

By increasing certain frequencies I can stop the voices in my head that tell me to set fire to things.

I am for real. I can get any tone from the way I attack the strings. If anything, the only thing I do is boost the mids to cut more.

I guess that you don't believe in compressors either. How many bass tracks do you think that you hear on almost any album that don't have EQ on them (either on the bass, on the amp or DI, at the channel strip or board, or in the mix) and compressors are only for the unskilled, nobody tracks bass through a compressor either..... ugh
