Wich amp its better ?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey there, i am going to start to play bass guitar.
I dont know much about amplifiers, but i need one to play at home, with friends, and maybe after pratice in some gigs or stage (not a big thing). I need it to be audible with drums. My friend as an electric guitar with a 30 watts amp with 1x12 speaker. I need an amp wich can be audible to play with him and with a drummer.
I want to spend about 150-250€.
How many watts should it have ?
Wich one of this is better ?

- Hartke B 900 Combo 90 Watt 1x15" Speaker (this one is 313€, i dont know if it worth it, because its more expensive than i want to spend, need your opinion)
- ORANGE Crush PiX 50BXT BLK (204€)
- Hartke B 600 Combo (237€)
-GALLIEN KRUEGER Blackline 115 II (248€)
- Behringer Ultrabass BX 4410 A Combo (304€)
- GALLIEN KRUEGER Backline 110 ( 133€)
-Fender Rumble 30 (190€)
-Marshall MB 30 (160€)

Can you guys please tell me ? I really need help, I dont want to waste money and then get something that doesnt worth it.
You can give suggestions abou tothers amplifiers, i would apreciatte.
Thanks

I would strongly suggest an amp that can expand, as in using another external speaker cab. Volume is produced by speakers more so than wattage, so anything with a single speaker will be limited. But, if you're able to "add-on" another speaker later on when you need it, you'll not have to start over with a whole new set up. GK makes a 2x10 combo like this, which can be expanded to a 410 with 500 watts. That should do nicely, but may cost over budget. Good luck.

Buying used is good as you can get a better quality combo/amp/cab for the same price as new.

Also, if for some reason you're not happy with your choice you can sell for little to no loss of money. I've been playing nearly 30 years and much prefer buying used as it's much more economical and sometimes you can get a great amp at a ridiculously low price.

If you can afford the Harkte on your list, get that, if not, check these out. Pretty sure MF.com delivers WAY out there.

Well. I'd recommend buying used and buying brands like Peavey who have been making good budget gear. Being in Europe, Ashdown and MarkBass might be good for you price-wise vs. imported gear. SWR Workingman series are good too and expandable.

While I agree it'd be good to get something expandable. It's a feature that's not always be available on smaller budget combos. I think the expandability is something you should consider, but don't let that limit your options, what's most important is you have something you can practice on and have fun with. BTW, don't buy the Behringer.

Not a fan of the GK backline gear, stick with regular GK gear, which is always available used.

The Fender Rumble 100's with in either 2x10, or 1x15 will have more than enough juice and speaker size to get you heard with a guitarist and drummer. I used one for a few years while saving up for a better rig. They are fairly inexpensive, especially on the used market.

They don't have the ability to add an external speaker, but truth be told, I never needed anything more than the speaker in the amp to hear myself on stages.

Forget the ORANGE. It's nice but since you want to jam with a drummer you'll need more.

If you can, just compare the sound of the oher two and make the choice. I would lean towards the GK myself.
