will 500 watts be enough for my 810?

i have a markbass 8x10, just wondering if the momark 500 watt head would be enough to power it or should i get the 800 watt version. also will i damage the speakers with the 500?

Is 500 plenty? yes.

by the way you might want to be more specific, i suppose if you are playing against two 100 watt full stacks dimed, 500 may be insufficient, but i figure you're not dealing with that.

im playing in a 3 piece...one guitarist with a 100 watt all tube rivera combo with 2x12's, we are a really clean sounding band

depends what you do with those 500 watts... if you play a 5 string and crank the bass knob, you won't get very far. if you play a 4 and don't need a lot of rumble, you'll get a lot more volume with the same 500 watts.

500 watts thru an 810 will get pretty flippin' loud!

You should be just fine. If not, make sure you are not killing the midrange frequencies of your sound.

Can't see you having a problem, I'm in a 5 piece with 2 guitarists, I use an8x10 and a 350watt head that has never made it past 1 o'clock yet.
500 watts if set up right should be able to level a building, push the middle a little and you should be able to cut through nicely without any problems.

but arnt svt's all tube? and doesnt that make a large difference?
