Will Avatar TB153 fit in my trunk?

Sign in to disble this ad
Does an Avatar TB153 (or 410 NEO for that matter since they're the same size) fit in the trunk of a Honda Civic sedan? Based on the dimensions it will fit, but I wasn't sure because you need to put the speaker in at an angle. Thx.

Here's a cheap and easy trick: Tape together some scrap cardboard to create a box with the same dimensions as the cabinet and see if it fits in your trunk.

I had a 2003 Civic Coupe that had a larger trunk than most Civics. The speaker would technically fit, but it would not slide in. That's why I got a Scion tC recently. The hatch gave me a lot more options. and it's fun.

When I went to buy a new car I took a cardboard cutout along. The salesguy joked about it and asked if it said "Will Work for Food" on the other side. Smart ass. He got the sale anyways.

I won't own a vehicle that isn't a hatchback or wagon anymore (and haven't for years). Bass gear, bikes, whatever....it all fits with minimal hassle.

Me either. I sat in a Hyundai Elantra Touring model at the car show and was amazed at the interior space of this compact hatch. Just a nice car all around for the money. Heck, you can move the back seat of a Honda fit and get two cabs in there, easy.

Why wrestle a heavy box and risk damaging it, or injuring yourself, when you can "cheat" and avoid both problems?

When I first started designing and building furniture, I made a piece that was too large to make around a corner and through a doorway in a client's house: I had to remove a window to deliver it! Lesson learned!

When I was shopping for my present car, I modified a cheap air mattress and inflated it inside my DB bag; I took it and 4' x 8' sheet of cardboard with me to assure I'd be able to haul full sheets of plywood and my DB in the new car.

+1 on the cardboard cutout.

Also, what I did is I had scrap 2x3's around, so I made a box out of 2x3s to test to see if my rig would fit in my car.

Why dont you do some testing and find out for yourself.

A combination of cardboard and scrap wood does work. Use the large pieces of cardboard as the front and back of the cabinet and then cut 4 pieces of wood to length to match the depth of the cabinet. Put the 4 pieces of wood in the corners and staple the carboard to the pieces of wood.

Test for yourself.

See ghetto picture.
