Will this damage a tube amp?

Will laying a tube amp on its side damage the tubes? I know nothing about tube amps as I don't own one but I just moved a bunch of gear and the only way to fit it all in was to put the tube amp on its side. It'll only be in that position for a few hours at the most. Some TB knowledge would be appreciated.

Likely not. There may be something to be said for cooling if you played it like that but just hauling it from one place to the next, no big deal. If you hit some big bumps in the road on the way just set it upright and see that the the tubes are seated good in their sockets when you get there.

As long as the side that's down-does not contain an opening that acts to circulate air/vent heat from the tubes...

it won't hurt anything. when tubes are stocked and stored in inventory by dealers, they're often layed on their side.

in a vox 125 tube head, all of the tubes are mounted sideways (their tops pointed to the front).

front view with grill board removed:

It'll be easier to knock over would be one concern...
