Will effects harm my amp?

I run my effect pedal (fuzz) with the level full and gain at 2:00, will this harm my amp (1978 sunn concert bass> Peavey 410)?

HUGE amounts of distortion could conceivably hurt a speaker, but I doubt you're anywhere near that level. If it goes from mega-death distortion to "oops my speaker is farting out and sounding like crap," you've gone too far.

Keep cranking it til the Magic Smoke appears. Then you'll know. :thu:

No, it shouldn't hurt the amp, but do you really need the level dimed? Couldn't you just turn up the amp or your bass? I guess I just make it a point never to dime a control except for the tone and volumes on bass.

Effects could harm your speakers. Fuzz should not be too bad unless your cranking massive gain out of your pedal, thereby significantly boosting the output volume. An envelope filter with a real peaky high resonance setting could also do it, again by presenting the amp/speakers with a big spike in output volume. Use your ears, listen for unpleasurable "farting" sounds, and back off the settings when you first hear them.

It can toast the tweeter, LPad and crossover if the cab has them.
